PoroPoint Thunderbird Resort, La Union | Summer Getaway - Part 1

The meditteranean architecture is reminiscent of Santorini, Greece

This is the first tour stop of the trip that the stokedtraveler and his friend setup for his officemates. It was a pleasant addition to the plan which was initially only to get to San Juan beach and surf all day.

This location is only a few minutes away from the town proper and was a very welcome sidetrip to have while waiting for the hotel check in at San Juan Surf Resort.

 Poropoint Thunderbird Resort has always been  one of the places the stokedtraveler wanted to check out since he first laid eyes on it online. True that this place stands out in La Union as a high class resort. Unfortunately, it seems to cater to the upper class who can avail a P6,000-P8,000/night for 2 pax with only very few amenities to offer.

The main feature of this resort would be the casino. Understandbly so because it was developed by one of the world's most renowned casino operators. The pool is nice to look at and the beach has potential but that is pretty much all the stokedtraveler could think of the place. There are the usual features like an in-house cafe & resto, spa and lounge too. Those looking for some rest and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of the city would find as a necessity. The site itself is still undergoing development as an exclusive residential communinty so maybe give a few years more before we can fully say whether the resort will be a hit or not.

The stokedtraveler and his friends only stayed for a few minutes to look around and snap some pictures. The halls and reception areas as well as the overlooking terraces are all so picturesque for someone whose never been to a place with meditteranean feel. The white walls accented by blue paintings definitely add to that greek ambience.
