Tambobong White Beach, Dasol, Pangasinan | Pangasinan's Secluded Beach Paradise

Tambobong White Beach and Colibra Island has clear calm waters and creamy white fine sand beach that can compete with the best beaches in the country.

Though located in a very remote location, Tambobong White Beach doesn’t disappoint travelers who are beat from the 9-hour drive (7 hours if non-stop). The group of 4 friends took a Toyota Yaris for a spin and it delivered perfectly without issues. Just be sure to pass through the paved roads in Dasol. Bobonot Barangay hall is the key landmark to remember because it is only a few meters away from the entry to the long road that leads to Tambobong. Also, gas up in Alaminos to be sure you won’t run out of gas for emergencies. The Dasol route will let you drive through rolling hills and sharp blind curves but it being the paved way makes it better than driving through Burgos. The Burgos route leading to Tambobong is still a rough terrain and is not recommended to tourists even by the locals.

Your home away from home is Tambobong White Beach Resort (09105641382). Nanay Benilda, the owner, wasn’t around to meet the group but her staff was more than accommodating. They will cook for you at a very minimal fee and even take care of your every housekeeping need while you’re there. It’s just like you are staying in with one of your far relatives –very homey. (Tip: Bring your own toiletries and bring a mosquito repellent, there’s too many mosquitoes at night)

On your way there, make sure to buy cooking supplies in a small strip of market along the road in Labrador. They sell freshly caught seafood which will lead you to drool over the variety of fishes, shells and crabs you buy. There’s also a nearby 711 convenience store where you can buy drinks and chips just a few minutes away from the market. Tambobong town is very laid back and quiet. It is doesn’t have many stores except for a few sari-sari stores that sold halo-halo and barbecue. At night, the town sleeps too early and you are lucky to hear the sound of videoke music if ever there were other tourists.

Tambobong White Beach has one of the calmest waters the stokedtraveler has been on. You can literally float to your heart’s content without being bothered by the waves. The best strip of beach was exactly the one facing the resort. The staff took care of the frontage which allows tourists to really appreciate the beauty that is Tambobong beach. Other spots have sea grass (the edible type) which can sometimes be a turn down for some tourists.

Colibra Island is soon to be converted into a resort of its own. It is a boat ride away from the mainland. The boats used are fishing boats and do not have shade so get yourself ready for the scorching heat. It is a private island with plans of renovating to accommodate tourists. Right now they still allow day tours and even let you pitch in a tent for an overnight stay for a fee. There are also wooden cottages where you can have breakfast or lunch on for a fee. There’s a make shift CR which the group didn’t try. It was functional enough but there wasn’t any indication that there is fresh water to use for bathing and other things. Electricity is provided through a generator that may be sufficient to power lights on the cottages only.

The island is small and easy to go around. The turquoise waters blending with the shades of blue and the white sand make it very enticing to swim on. There isn’t too many tourists that day and the group got a chance to spend time at prime spots around the island. Other tourists who visited opted to stay in the cottages or the front beach only. It takes a little sense of adventure to find your private island vibe.

Crocodile Island is included in the boat and docking fee but can only be visited when the wave conditions will allow it. It is said to have a cave that is good for some more photo ops. The place is rocky and the best spot for a swim and snorkeling is still in Colibra Island. The group decided to spend more time in Colibra which turned out to be a good decision. The waves weren’t very good going to Crocodile Island that day. Had they tried to island hop to Crocodile Island they would have cut their beach bumming time short.

The total budget was P10k and there was more than enough to pay for everything that was needed to get to and back from Tambobong. This meant the transportation, the food, the recreation and everything you can think of to spend in the remote place. There isn’t much to buy for souvenirs but if there were any the budget would still be enough for it.

Those who love long road trips should consider going to Tambobong. The beach is worth the trip especially if you decide to go to Colibra Island.

Budget:
·        P2000 overnight accommodation for 4 in an air conditioned room with own CR at Tambobong White Beach Resort. They have common restrooms which can also be used if there aren’t that many guests. The resort is easy to recognize because of its striking pink house! When you drop by don’t forget to send the blogger’s regards to the staff!

·        P700 boat trip to Colibra Island + P100 boat docking fee + P150 cottage fee
