Camayan Beach Resort, Subic Bay | The perfect escape for the family

The stoked traveler spent the previous summer holidays with his family in two beach outings in this same resort. You can book Camayan Beach Resort in Subic, Zambales with Traveloka

The place was very relaxing and child friendly so they opted to stay there in both trips. Even more so, the service in Camayan Beach Resort was just superb and met every request his hard to please family had.

He's been to this beach several times even before Ocean Adventure opened up. This resort has really gone a long way since.

Service. The stoked travelers family is meticulous when it comes to receiving customer service. Camayan Beach Resort is not without its shortcomings but whatever shortcomings they have they always make up for it with their prompt response to guest requests. This is probably one of those places where you can’t help but give an extra tip on top of the service charges applied to the meals and accommodations. In one situation, the family reported that the air conditioning unit wasn’t cold enough. The hotel staff responded to it by pulling out the unit and replacing it with a new one in less than an hour!

Dining. Reef restaurant needs some improvement. There isn’t a lot of food choices available on the menu. For its name (Reef), this restaurant has a very limited selection of seafood. Prices average from P125-P280 per food order. Some items are good for 2 person sharing while the cheaper ones are single orders only. The taste is ok but still has some room for improvement. Although most food items are local dishes, they lack the local flavor which makes the stoked traveler wonder if the chef is even Filipino at all. For those who wish to bring their own food, there’s a grill station available in one area of the resort where all the cooking can be done. There’s a grill fee though.

Drinking. Sand bar offers alcoholic refreshments for those who wish to have a few rounds of drinks. Beach goers that rent cabanas or only pay for beach entrance can bring their own drinks too. Fortunately, so far the stoked traveler hasn’t seen anyone irresponsibly leaving bottles on the beach.

Accommodations. A superior room (29sqm) cost P4,500/night while a deluxe room (34sqm) is at P5,000/night. Each room has a maximum of (5) occupants and every person in excess of (2) is charged P500/head + 10% service charge.  Captain’s suites and Executive suites are also available at P7,500 and P10,000 per night respectively. These rooms offer a more luxurious accommodation but can only accommodate up to (4) occupants. A buffet breakfast awaits the hotel guests after a good night’s rest in their comfy beds. The room rates are ok and provide value for money. They are not very cheap but the service that comes with the accommodations just makes everything worth it. The stoked traveler has stayed in a superior room in both his visits simply because it is cheaper and offers beach view accommodations.

Resort Activities. Camayan beach resort offers more than the usual beach activities. Kayaks (Single/Double/Tri) can be rented at P300/P400/P600 per hour. Nature lovers can also get to experience the natural beauty of nearby mangroves for P500/head for a guided kayak tour. Snorkeling (P250/2 hours) with a full gear can be a worthwhile water activity in this resort. The waters are actual clear and at certain times of the day you will literally be swimming with fishes. Diving courses are also available for the experienced as well as those who are just plain adventurous and curious. The stoked traveler will be back for either an intro dive or a full course to cross out this item in his wishlist. There’s a lot lot more activities to choose from not even counting that hotel guests get a 20% discount at ocean adventure (a few steps away from the resort) with free re-entry to the park anytime during their stay!

Marine Sanctuary. The resort’s waters is a marine sanctuary and is home to various species of marine life including sea turtles. According to the tally board there were (8) sea turtle nests protected by the resort staff at the time of the stoked traveler’s visit. Schools of fishes will sometimes swim by or jump out of the water. Fishes of different colors and sizes can be seen from a view on the dive center. It is truly a magnificent sight and not something that can be seen in regular beaches.

The stoked traveler has been away from the waves and surf board for a few months now. While he really misses that authentic stoked feeling, moments like these are little treasures especially when spent with kids and the family.

Monkeys can sometimes be seen on the resort. Watch out for your belongings
